CHANCE HARAWA ANNOUNCES WITHDRAW FROM NORTHERN REGION YOUTH FOOTBALL ELECTIONS

Nkhata Bay Youth Football Committee Chairperson Chance Harawa has withdrawn from the Northern Region Youth Football Committee elections, scheduled for April 19, citing health concerns and a desire to focus on developing youth football in his district.

Harawa, nominated for the vice chairperson position, stepped down before the National Youth Football Association released candidates for the 2025 Northern Region Youth Football Association elections, rumored to be held in Rumphi district.

National Youth Football Association General Secretary Robson Woodwell said Harawa’s withdrawal is a welcomed decision.

With Harawa’s withdrawal, current Vice Chairperson Maneno Mwambinga will go unopposed, alongside General Secretary Pickford Kamanga and his deputy Mavado Kumwenda. Panji Kamanga is set to be confirmed as treasurer.

However, the district committees face a competitive contest, with Karonga District Youth Football Committee Chairperson Obert Mkandawire challenging incumbent Angel Gondwe.
